The environment is changing, construction is working towards LEANer and greener ways of building.
Project Management should be no different…
Sustainability within Construction
The construction industry is among the top 10 least sustainable industries. If we want to leave this world better than we found it then we need to start making changes. Being a part of the Paris Agreement is a good step, however, that’s only a “promise” to aim for a target – now we have to do the heavy lifting of keeping that promise. Residential, commercial, and industrial buildings account for 17% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions, when the emissions associated with electricity used in buildings are included.
At Phi Project Solutions Inc. we feel that supporting these goals is imperative for the good of the environment, however, also to the benefit of you, our clients. Some of the benefits of building green include:
A 10% or greater increase in asset value
Nearly 20% lower maintenance costs
Increased leasable rates
Improved indoor air quality leading to positive health aspects
Reduction of 34% CO2, 25% less energy usage, and 11% less water usage
By building green, using LEAN construction concepts to reduce waste on-site, and working together to innovate we can make your project a success not only for you but for our environment as well.
In addition to the sustainable recommendations that we will make during the design, our office is nearly a paperless environment:
All drawing reviews are completed using ONLY PDF documents and marking up all documents via a company supplied iPad Pro
All contracts are signed using ONLY PDF documents and signing all contracts and change orders via a company supplied iPad Pro
Meetings take place via Teams, Zoom or any other online platform unless requested to be in person by the client
Reduced energy usage by keeping our office at a more efficient temperature, turn off all electronics and use energy efficient lighting and equipment
